i’M Laura Beth: two words, one name. I’m a taker of photos, a teller of stories, and a collector of memories. I have spent years learning the craft of composing photographs that tell the stories of the everyday: from the bad days to the miracle days and all the days in-between.
Listen.
I understand the unique contradictions parenthood demands of us: the wish for these children never to grow up, never to stop holding our hands, never to learn the dark truths of the world…balanced by the desperate need for a hot cup of coffee, for connection with our spouses, for bedtime to come quickly.
My heart swells at the sound of my daughters' laughter and my eyes roll when they all whine MOMMY at the same time. I know how fast these years fly by and how slowly these days creep along.
I am not interested in perfection.
I am moved by the unexpected.
I find joy in what others overlook.
It is my belief that life is most charming when it is not rehearsed or directed or polished. There is joy to be found in chaos and in quiet; there is beauty in brokenness and in connection; there is humor in the million tiny gestures and expressions that make up a routine.
And I know what you’re thinking: it’s nearly impossible to see the beauty when you’re in the thick of it.
I agree. But I can see your beauty and your hard work and the way your child looks at you when you don’t even realize it. What I want most is for you to see it too.
Let me show you.
